A trio of Redbird golfers named All-America Scholars

NORMAN, Okla. — Three Redbird student-athletes: Andrew O’Brien, Felix van Dijk, Wisdom Parkerhave been named to the Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar Team, announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA).

To be eligible for nomination, an individual must be a sophomore, junior, or senior both academically and athletically. In addition, they must participate in 50% of their team’s competitive rounds, have a stroke average of less than 76.0, and maintain a minimum career cumulative average of 3.2.

O’Brien, a native of Clive, Iowa, averaged 75.9 shots per round on the season over six tournaments and 24 rounds overall. He had two rounds at or below par, with a top five at the Badger Invitational where he finished tied for fifth and shot a season-high 66 in the second round as the Redbirds won the tag team title. during the Big Ten event. He was named to the All-MVC team and All-Academic team after the 2021 season.

van Dijk averaged 75.1 strokes per round, including a low round of 69 and four rounds at or under par. His best result of the year – at the 2022 MVC Championship – helped him earn All-MVC honors that year, as the native of Tilburg, Netherlands also earned a spot on the MVC team. All-Academic.

Wisdom, a student-athlete from Bloomington, averaged 75.0 strokes per round over six tournaments with a top 10 finish at the 2022 Badger Invitational where he placed ninth. He had five rounds at or below par during the year, with a season-lowest three-round tournament score of 215.
