Melgrati named to ANNIKA Awards pre-season watch list

TUCSON, Ariz. – Arizona sophomore golfer Caroline Melgrati was named to the ANNIKA Award pre-season watch list as one of the top collegiate players in women’s golf. Melgrati capped off his freshman season by earning WGCA Honorable Mention All-American honors after finishing in a tie for third at the Pac-12 Championships.

The Milan, Italy native led the team in scoring with an average of 73.15 and helped guide the Wildcats to NCAA Regionals for a 29e consecutive season. His grading average was also the seventh-best by a freshman in the program’s history. Melgrati also competed in the prestigious Augusta National Women’s Amateur, becoming the sixth Wildcat to qualify for the event.

Created in 2014, the ANNIKA Prize presented by Stifel is awarded each year to the best American college golfer; the winner was voted by players, coaches and members of the college golf media. Named in honor of Annika Sorenstam, the award was created in partnership with the Haskins Foundation to recognize the top female golfer at the end of the season and to match the Haskins Award presented by Stifel, which recognizes the top male college golfer in Division I. Rose Zhang (Stanford) became the 8th ANNIKA Award winner in 2022 and Stanford’s second consecutive winner.
