Men’s Tennis Receives ITA Academic Team Award for 10th Consecutive Season
MUNCIE, Ind. – Ball State University’s 2021-22 men’s tennis team has been named the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Varsity Team after achieving a 3.5 grade point average on Ball State’s 4.0 scale. This is the 10th straight year the Cardinals have won the team honor.
Additionally, six team members received individual ITA Scholar-Athlete honors – senior graduate Chris Adams (4.0), as well as juniors Eli Herran (4.0), Vince Orlando (3.9), Parrish Simmons (3.6 ), Abe Wojtalik (3.9) and freshman Nathaniel Webster (3.8). Adams is a five-time recipient of the award while Herran, Orlando, Simmons and Wojtalik have received the honor three times.
The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA program that has a team GPA of 3.2 or higher (on a 4.0 scale). All Academic Letters recipients are counted toward the team’s cumulative GPA for the current academic year (including Fall 2021 and Spring 2022).
In order to achieve ITA Scholar-Athlete status, a player must meet the following criteria: 1.) be a graduate of a college letter, 2.) have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.5 (on a scale of 4.0) for the current academic year, and 3.) have been enrolled in their current school for at least two semesters (including junior through senior).
