Report: The Vancouver expansion team filed this crest design

The Canadian Premier League will expand to Langley next year, with the new club due to make an announcement next Wednesday.

Abbotsford News reporter Ben Lypka has uncovered a new brand crest design for the expansion team, revealing the club appears to be calling itself ‘Vancouver Football Club’ with additional branding as VFC.

Here is a first look at the brand:

It should be noted that even though the brand image appears in black and white, this does not mean that the club logo or branding itself will be – it is simply how the images of the brand are registered. To that end, CEO Rob Friend told us in a previous interview that he and the rest of the SixFive Sports & Entertainment ownership group would be very particular about the feel of everything.

“I think new clubs coming in need to challenge the level at all levels, both on and off the pitch. With this new club, we come with a lot of experience. We are going to challenge ourselves with this club, from everything from brand to product, on and off the pitch,” Friend said.

With what appears to be an eagle at the center of the team’s design, it will be interesting to see what is revealed in an official club announcement scheduled for November 2.

The club had hoped to launch their brand in early autumn, but the timing of the news in the tailwind of the 2022 CPL Finals will likely draw additional eyes to the project.

League expansion in Vancouver was announced nearly a year ago, and the team is expected to launch in time for the upcoming season.
