ABU DHABI, 17th July, 2022 (WAM) — In line with the strategy of the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Center (SZGMC) to promote the tolerant culture of Islam, along with the principles of coexistence, openness, compassion and of cultural dialogue, the ‘Young Builders’ is a youth capacity building program launched by SZGMC that combines the initiatives and activities that the mosque had started over the years, providing a platform for young Emiratis to shine as role models in presenting the lofty messages and values ​​of the UAE.

Amal Bamatraf, Director of Cultural Communication Department at SZGMC, said, “The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Center has succeeded in offering a distinctive model of investment in the country’s youth, thanks to the pioneering programs and initiatives it has launched since its inception in 2012, which target young people to enable them to continue the development journey of the UAE.

She added that the Center has managed to gain worldwide fame thanks to the country’s youth who embody the Emirati values ​​of coexistence and cultural dialogue, noting that most visitor reviews on TripAdvisor describe the mosque as a center that promotes peace and tolerance.

The name of the new program, Young Builders, is inspired by a poem titled “Al Shabab Albani” by founding father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, which shows his belief that youth is the real wealth of the UAE, as builders and engine of the country’s progress. Meanwhile, the program’s logo design is a budding plant, a symbol of developing youth, which bears the fruits that contribute to the growth of the UAE.

The Young Builders will act as a comprehensive program combining a range of SZGMC youth programs, including the Volunteer Program, the Cultural Orientation Training Program (Ibn Al-Dar), the Junior Cultural Guide Program, as well than others that aim to develop knowledge and skills. young people and determined young people through collaborations with local schools.

Jamal Al Dahmani, director of SZGMC’s devotee and visitor services department, said the center’s strategy aims to inculcate the culture of volunteerism in young people, providing young people with the opportunity to volunteer indoors and outdoors. outside the centre, which helps develop character, as well as their social skills and desire to give.

For her part, Amina Al Hammadi, Director of the Cultural Visits Department of the SZGMC, said: “The Ibn Al-Dar program is one of the most distinctive programs organized by the Center, which aims to train Emirati university students and graduates in as cultural tour specialists, in line with the goals and mission of SZGMC. Since its launch in 2012, the program has graduated over 190 trainees, who have been trained by Emirati cultural tour experts to deliver top-notch performances.

She noted that the Center is also working to foster the talents of young people, preparing them for the future, through the Junior Cultural Guides program, which uses a special curriculum, combined with workshops and training on the field at the Centre, which develops their ability to assume responsibility from an early age and tomorrow become specialists in cultural circuits and ambassadors of their country. The total number of graduates from the Junior Culture Guide program reached 389.

Additionally, the “Rehab Al Hemam” program reflects SZGMC’s belief in the active role that determined people play as a pillar of the community. As part of this program, the Center has organized several initiatives targeting determined people, including cultural tours presented by specialists in Arabic and English, as well as Arabic and English sign languages. It also empowers them by allowing them to showcase their photography talents through the Spaces Of Light Photography Award.

Other SZGM initiatives include collaborations with higher education institutions that aim to hone and utilize students’ talents and skills. These include exhibits such as “Inspiring Leader” and “Artistic Characteristics – Elegant Calligraphy and Inspirational Characteristics”.
