Tsekos Selected for CoSIDA All-District At-Large Academic Team

Graduate student Zach Tsekos of the Clarkson University men’s hockey team added another award to his list of honors as he was chosen as the CoSIDA Academic All-District 1 At-Large selection when the organization released its picks Thursday after -noon.

Tsekos joins former teammate Devin Brosseau (2018, 2020) on the Golden Knight hockey roster to receive the honor, joining Brosseau, Nick Dodge (2007, 2008), David Evans (2001, 2002), Mikko Ollilla ( 1999), Todd Blanc (1997), Steve Palmer (1995, 1996), Jason Currie (1994), Steve Dubinsky (1992, 1993) and Dave Fretz (1985).

At-Large selections are for sports that do not have their own all-district academy teams, including (for men’s sports) lacrosse, rifle, skiing, fencing, swimming, tennis, golf, volleyball, gymnastics, water polo, hockey and wrestling.

Tsekos had a 3.90 GPA as an undergraduate and also possessed a 3.92 GPA in graduate school while studying Data Analytics. ECAC Defensive Forward of the Year and ECAC Second Team All-Star, ranked third on the team in points (31) and tied for second on the team in goals scored (15).

Tsekos was one of six hockey players across the country to win the honor in all eight CoSIDA districts, and he will move on to the national ballot to be voted on in the coming weeks.
